It takes a... pandemic?

Ever get frustrated that the generic outfits at the store lack personality? Ever go to a baby shower and see the same onesie gifted over and over? Ever thrown your kid a birthday party and agonized over what they're going to wear? I have.

Avery Gray Designs was born out of necessity. I wanted my kid to have clothing that represented not just her amazingly fun spirit, but also our values. I wanted to give baby shower gifts that were reflective of the families receiving them. I wanted my kid to have special birthday shirts, and one of a kind tees with when we went to Disney World. In the past I have made everything from upcycled notebooks to custom jewelry so I decided why not learn how to make kids apparel?

Initially I only made shirts for my daughter (who in my opinion is the cutest customer on the planet) and our friend's kids. I always thought about selling on a larger scale, but as any mom can tell you: life is busy! Cue the global pandemic.

COVID. Pandemics are inherently stressful, and my family was busier than ever; hand-washing, home-schooling, and working from home. I needed a creative outlet and something positive to put my energy into that was within my control. So I carved out a small space in my daughter's playroom between the Barbies and Legos and got down to work. 2020 may be the year of pandemics, wild fires, and murder hornets (whatever happened to those?) but it will also be the year that Avery Gray Designs relaunched into something awesome.
